New Tiffin Seneca Farmers Market Manager Hired

New manager will assist Seneca County Common Ground with various new initiatives at the market.

TIFFIN, OHIO – March 16, 2021 – The board of Seneca County Common Ground has hired Kirsten Ameling as the new Manager of the Tiffin Seneca Farmers Market. Ameling is a Northwest Ohio native who brings a background in agriculture as well as professional marketing and communication skills to the position.

Common Ground is the nonprofit entity that operates the Market as well as other local food initiatives. The Market Manager is a part-time position that helps to oversee general operation of the market as well as the implementation of new initiatives at the market. This year, Common Ground will be rolling out a new program to accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits at the market. The new Friends of the Market program will also be launched this year allowing community members to share time, talents and treasures to help improve the market. Along with adding programming during markets this year, Common Ground is working on several initiatives to work toward the overall goal of expanding both the number of vendors and customers at the markets.

“I’m looking forward to using my experience to help grow the market and it’s potential,” Ameling said. “Having an opportunity to use my passion for ag and my communication and marketing skills to serve the community is very exciting.”

Kirsten grew up around agriculture and brings with her a degree in Agribusiness and Agricultural Communications as well as experience as the Communications and Marketing Specialist at Luckey Farmers. She also currently serves as the president of the Sandusky County Farm Bureau and as a coach for the Wood County Livestock Judging Team.

“Pulling in another young professional to bring our market vision to life is such a wonderful benefit,” said Audrey Flood, vice president of the Common Ground board. “Kirsten is a great fit for the needs of this market and we’ve got big plans with her on board. We love to see young people investing in strengthening the local food system.”

Seneca County Common Ground would like to thank Sutton Bank

for once again supporting the community as the Market Sponsor in 2021. Without their support, the market would not see the success that it has so far.

The dates of the 2021 Tiffin Seneca Farmers Market are: May 15 and 29, June 12 and 26, July 10 and 24, August 14 and 28, September 11 and 25 and October 9 and 23.
